A descriptive and illustrated catalog of the introduced (exotic and translocated) and invasive fish known in Mexico will be prepared based on specimen records and specialized literature on the subject.
Invasive species are the second leading cause of biodiversity loss worldwide. In the marine environment, invasive species are generally small, inconspicuous and taxonomically poorly understood.
This research proposed to CONABIO aims to analyze the impact of an invasive species Cyprinus carpio on the aquatic ecosystem of Lake Pátzcuaro and, in particular, the impact on other species of fish native to the area.
