From 2000 to 2002, a fixed picket weir was operated on Frosty Creek, Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, to assess the stock status of Pacific salmon and Dolly Varden Salvelinus malma. Chum salmon Oncorhynchus keta were the most abundant species with an annual escapement of about 30,000 to 40,000 fish per year.
