The two main centres of frog research and conservation in New Zealand came together in 2006 with a group of interested parties to form the NZFROG (New Zealand Frog Research Group). This website has come about through collaboration of both centres.
University of Otago Frog Research Group – is led by Professor Phil Bishop. He and his team of staff and post-graduate students study conservation, diseases, behaviour and communication in New Zealand frogs.
Victoria University of Wellington Frog Research Group – was led by Associate Professor Ben Bell. He and his team of students studied population dynamics and long-term monitoring of Archey’s frog and the Maud Island frog for many years. Although Ben has recently retired he still continues to be actively involved in frog conservation in New Zealand.
